New Windsor Recreation Department News

New Windsor Town Hall, located at 555 Union Ave., is decked out with decorations for Halloween. Several people pitched in to help make the decorations a reality. Harold Baxter Jr. provided corn stalks and hay. Mums were provided by Devitt’s Nursery and Supply. The pumpkins are courtesy of Frank Lange. The decoration was conducted by Town Clerk Deborah Green, Lenore Kissel in the town assessor’s office and Beverly Miller and Betsy Fischer of the recreation department. New Windsor’s annual Halloween party will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park. The event features music, a costume parade and refreshments.   • The Town of New Windsor Annual Halloween Party will be held tonight 6-8pm at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park. There will be a Haunted Hay Ride, a costume parade, and refreshments. See you tonight!
  • Men’s Over 18 basketball meets on Sunday’s 10am-12noon is a weekly program going through May 28th. The program takes place at Stewart Gym and is $75 for New Windsor Residents and $85 for non-New Windsor Residents.
  • Men’s Over 30 basketball meets on Wednesday nights 7pm-9pm is a weekly program that goes through May 31st. The program takes place at Stewart Gym and is $75 for New Windsor Residents and $85 for non-New Windsor Residents.
  • Open Gym Floor Hockey takes place at Stewart Gym on Tuesday nights is a weekly program that goes through June 27th from 7pm-9pm. This program is for ages 17 and up and is $75 for New Windsor Residents at $85 for non-New Windsor Residents.
  • CPR and First Aid Classes are being held at the Marasco Center on Saturday October 22nd. CPR for the Professional Rescuer is scheduled for 9am to 1pm and is $80, and Community CPR and First Aid is from 1pm to 5pm and is $65.
  • Join the Recreation Department on Saturday November 5thfor a day trip to the Apple Festival at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Pennsylvania. Bus leaves New Windsor Town Hall at 8am and returns at 7pm. The trip is $35 per person.
  • Then on Sunday November 20th join the Recreation Department for a trip to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. This is the most famous Christmas Show in the World. Join the Rockettes and get into the Christmas Spirit Early this year! There will be some time before the show for shopping, sight-seeing, or to get some lunch. This show always fills up fast, so be sure to sign up early! Bus leaves New Windsor Town Hall at 10am for a 2pm show and returns at 6pm. The price is $80 for New Windsor Residents and $90 for non-New Windsor Residents.
  • The Senior Matinee movie is held every Tuesday at the Marasco Center at 11:30am. The movie for Tuesday October 18th is “Genius.” In 1920s New York, Max Perkins, renowned editor of Hemingway and Fitzgerald, discovers writer Thomas Wolfe, and their creative bond and ensuing friendship leave an indelible mark on both of their lives.
  • The Start Smart Basketball Program for ages 3-5 takes place at Stewart Gym on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm starting October 26th through November 30th is a parent assist program that will teach the basic skills of basketball such as passing, dribbling, and shooting.  This six week program is $75 for New Windsor Residents and $85 for non-residents.
  • Sign-ups for our winter programs has begun. The Jeff McCormick Coed Winter Basketball Program for ages 6-17 years old players and which takes place weeknights Monday-Thursday’s from 6-8pm (one set day a week day) at Stewart Gym. The price for the nine week program is $50 for New Windsor Residents and $60 for non-residents.
  • The New Windsor Indoor Coed Soccer Academy takes place at Stewart Gym on Friday nights or Saturday’s depending on the age bracket is for ages 4-14 and is $50 for New Windsor Residents and $60 for non-residents. This is a nine week program.
  • The Winter Start Smart Soccer Program for players ages 3-4 is a parent assist program that will meet on Saturday mornings from 9-10am from January 7th-February 11th at Stewart Gym. This six week program is $75 for New Windsor Residents and $85 for non-residents.
