Veterans Head to DC on Honor Flight
Around six in the morning at Stewart Airport people started to arrive. This was the Honor Flight Mission 18. 87. Veterans would be arriving at ShopRite on Route 32 in New Windsor. Today, November 4 was their day to return to Washington, DC to go site seeing at the history that they made. Earlier, motorcycles groups line the parking lot, escorted by Orange County Sheriff’s car and motorcycles from the New Windsor Police Department. They would escort the buses loaded with Vets to Stewart Airport. Outside the terminal were friends. family. and spectators who watched the motorcade arrive. Next came a bagpipe and drums from the Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipes and Drums who were ahead of buses full of Vets.
The veternas then went down the side of the terminal, where motorcycles groups were standing and applauding their service. Inside was a ceremony after which the Vets boarded the plane to be on their way.
