Neuhaus joins Farmside Acres in Cornwall to provide Trees for Troops this Holiday Season

Approximately 630 Christmas trees shipped to military families

Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus proudly participated in Farmside Acres’ annual “Trees for Troops” donation drive on Monday morning in Cornwall.

With the help of Neuhaus, the 105th Airlift Wing and students from Lee Road Elementary School in Cornwall, Farmside Acres shipped approximately 630 Christmas trees. The 105th Airlift Wing is a unit of the New York Air National Guardstationed at Stewart Air National Guard Basein Newburgh.

“This annual event brings the community together and serves as a wonderful way to provide some Christmas cheer to our brave servicemen and women, and their families,” Neuhaus said. “This donation drive hits home and it’s great that we had so many different people out here today to help get Christmas trees to our troops. I’m glad that this great event has continued to grow and thank the Nannini family for hosting it again.”

All trees collected will go to families at Fort Benning in Georgia. Since 2009, Farmside Acres has collected donations for the Trees for Troops program, which brings farm-grown Christmas Trees to U.S. troops and families at military bases in the U.S. and overseas.Trees for Troops provides farm-grown Christmas Trees to United States armed forces members in all branches of the military and their families, through donations, sponsorships, grants and the work of many volunteers. Since 2005, FedEx has shipped more than 200,000 real Christmas trees to service members and their families in every branch of the military in approximately 65 bases in 17 countries at no charge.
“We are grateful that County Executive Neuhaus has taken such an interest in Trees for Troops and our family farm,” saidBob Nannini, owner of Farmside Acres. “He has been a tremendous supporter and he values and respects everything that our servicemen and women do for our country. Our family always enjoys having County Executive participate in this event.”
