Holiday Tree Lighting in City of Newburgh

Washingtonville Teacher Donates Newburgh Christmas Tree

Washingtonville’s Taft Elementary School second grade teacher Kerilee Berben donated the huge blue spruce in her family’s front yard to be this year’s City of Newburgh Christmas tree. Kids Evelyn and Lawrence watched as the tree, which weighed in at 2,100 pounds, was cut and placed atop a truck to be brought to its new home on Broadway. After Christmas, when the tree is taken down, lumber cut from it will be donated to Habitat for Humanity to renovate homes for Newburgh families in need.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be Friday, December 15 at 5:30 pm
