Jeroloman & Council Members Sworn In to Packed Crowd in Blooming Grove
By Eugenia Moskowitz
Despite the bitter cold, the swearing-in ceremony for the new Blooming Grove town board took place on Jan. 1 to a packed town hall. Under the new ward system, the board increased in number to six members, and the town chose to vote in entirely new members.
Normally quiet closed-door ceremonies, Blooming Grove opened its ceremony to anyone who wished to attend, and the response was a completely full house with standing room only as people welcomed their fresh new representatives selected from each of the town’s six wards. First to be sworn in were Supervisor Rob Jeroloman and Highway Supervisor Wayne Kirkpatrick, followed by Receiver of Taxes and Assessments Nancy Glynn and the six board members Steven Amante, Jason Kramer, Tom DeVinko, Sonia Ayala, Charles Quick, and George Doering, whose spouses held the Bible while they took their oaths before Judges: Honorable Stephen J. Smith and Honorable Sandra B. Sciortino. “I think everyone here is eager to see the town of Blooming Grove revitalized under this new board,” one resident said, “the same way the village of Washingtonville is experiencing a renaissance. You can just feel the excitement in this room right now. It’s really nice to see.”
