Giant Glazing Event Held at Washingtonville High School
Washingtonville High School’s National Art Honor Society hosted a Glaze Your Own Bowl/Mug Fundraiser on Jan. 13 in the large cafeteria of the high school. “Over 80 participants attended, along with over 20 student, parent, and faculty volunteers,” high school art teacher Lara Held said. Over 100 bowls and mugs were sold and then glazed with a wide variety of colorful ceramic glazes. Community members donated cookies, muffins, bagels, as well as hot and cold beverages for the participants to enjoy. Fifty percent of the funds raised will help support educational experiences for the National Art Honor Society students. The other fifty percent will be donated to Empty Bowls WHS, which will then go directly to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Country Kids Food Pantry to serve the needs of people in Washingtonville.

This year, the event will be a Dessert Social where many of the bowls and mugs from the Glaze Your Own fundraiser will be for purchase. (Photo provided)
