Wizard One Thousand Point Club
Victoria Mirecki joins the Washingtonville High School 1,000 career point club for basketball. Victoria scored her 1,000 career point on Friday January 26 at home versus Fallsburg. In her typical fashion Victoria on a hustle play, rebounded a teammate’s miss and scored her 1,000 and 1,001 point early in the first quarter. She ends the game with a total of 8 points (1,007) to put her past the total of Lauren Cash (class of ’96- 1,004) and second to Shiesha McCollum (class of ’03-1,423) on the girl’s side. On the boys’ side of the club are Sam Quimby (1,205- ’67), Ralph Boegel (1,096- ’78), Ricky McCollum (1,056- ’02) and Danny Perez (1,103- ’04).
The Wizards have had many fine players and teams, both male and female over the years. This is an exclusive club to say the least dating back to 1967 as far as we know. It takes a special player to reach this career milestone and although a great individual accomplishment they could not have done it without the support of their teammates. Victoria is well deserving of her membership in the club. Victoria is the ultimate team leader with her leadership by example of what it takes to be a scorer and all around great player and person. A true student/athlete Victoria is ranked fourth in her senior class with a GPA of 100+. Victoria has signed to play basketball next year at Worcester Polytech in Massachusetts. The Wizards intend to play quality basketball leading up to the Section IX tournament in mid-February. Victoria will be a significant contributor to the team’s continued success as she adds to her career total.
