Hot Chocolate 5K Stirs Up Warmth on Cold Day
By Eugenia Moskowitz
Washingtonville’s second annual Hot Chocolate 5K run took place through the Village on Feb. 4. Organized by the Washingtonville Run for Fun group, which welcomes runners of every level from beginners to marathoners, the Hot Chocolate’s aim is to get people outside even in winter, and to get runners to meet and connect as they look forward to spring. All entry fees benefited Aktiv for Cancer, and all age groups were represented, from youth to seniors. Some of the Valentine’s Day and candy-themed costumes were: a gumball machine, a hot cocoa mug with marshmallows, a fun-dip envelope, and a silver Hershey’s kiss.
