New Windsor receives grant from Orange County to fully fund food pantry.
New Windsor, NY – The Town of New Windsor is grateful to receive a $4,000 grant from County Executive Steve Neuhaus to fund a budget shortfall at the New Windsor Food Pantry.
The town currently supports 75 families through the food pantry. Largely funded by private donations, and administrated by the town recreation department, the food pantry faced a funding shortfall this year due in part to increased demand and the loss of a major funding source. Thanks to County Executive Neuhaus the food pantry will now be fully funded for the entire year.
Supervisor George Green stated, “New Windsor is proud to be able to offer a food pantry to our food insecure residents. Facing a funding shortfall this year we sought the assistance of the county. County Executive Steve Neuhaus stepped up to the plate and fully funded our shortfall to ensure no New Windsor family in need goes hungry. Thank you to Steve for delivering for New Windsor with this grant. It will go to immediate good use.”
County Executive Steve Neuhaus stated, “Since taking office, one of my priorities has been addressing food insecurity. Our backpack program and veterans food pantry are just some of the initiatives we work on to make sure our residents don’t go to bed hungry. I commend Supervisor Green and the board for their outstanding program and am pleased we can assist them with this important funding.”
