Washingtonville Farmers Market Opens!
By Eugenia Moskowitz
The Washingtonville Farmers & Artisans Market opened for the season on June 3 with over 30 vendor stalls carrying a variety of goods including organic fruits and vegetables (zucchini, spinach, strawberries, and other cool-weather crops are already in season), organic and halal meats, organic eggs, ready-to-plant garden flowers and vegetables, prepared foods, all-natural bath and beauty products, soaps, body scrubs, silver jewelry, candles, hand-crafted carpentry items such as wine racks, woodworking items, pottery, home decor, hand-spun wool and hand-knitted textiles, fine art, bee-based beauty products and honey, and maple syrup. There was also family-friendly live music.
Organizers Jessica Kehlenbeck and Maaike Wiegman-Leavey gathered a wide array of local vendors to make visiting the market a treat. The market will run Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through the end of October.
