Washingtonville NJHS Induction Ceremony Held

The Washingtonville Middle School held its annual National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony on June 7. The auditorium seats were filled with proud parents and family as the 55 new 7th and 8th grade inductees joined the 73 pre-existing members in the society. Each year, as the older students move up to the high school, the younger members take their place. The welcoming address was given by Anora Mahin (at podium) as Charlotte Peterson, Ashley Clemente, Julia Ariano, Kara Kaste, and Tatum Harvey (seated at right) lit the five candles representing the qualities for society membership: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Middle school principal Teresa Thompson then welcomed the inductees into the society, and the new members signed as their names were called. Live music was provided by Marcello Archetti and Hailey Faurot. (Photo by Eugenia Moskowitz)
