Its Blueberry Season!

Mike and Christine Pagana welcomed visitors to their organic blueberry farm Halfway Acres at 200 Purgatory Road in Campbell Hall last week as blueberry season officially opened.

Started decades ago by Christine’s parents, the farm has expanded over the last five years with newer bushes and, while always organic, has this year become officially USDA certified organic.

The peak of the season is right now and Halfway Acres is open from dawn to dusk until the berries are all gone. Visitors use small arm-slung plastic buckets or slightly larger buckets cleverly strapped to their waists with a bungee cord, both supplied by the farm. Your haul of berries is then weighed and can be taken home in a plastic bag from the farm or, if preferred, in your own containers from home so none of them get crushed. There is a port-a-potty on site and the farm is family-friendly for any age children. Stay for as short or as long as you want, and pick as much or as little as you wish. You can even bring lunch and sit a while.
