Days of Wine and Honey in Washingtonville

Days of Wine and Honey in Washingtonville

CAPTION: The Farmers & Artisans Market of Washingtonville offered patrons a chance to both sip wine from Brotherhood Winery (located on North Street) and learn about bee behavior and beekeeping from Washingtonville resident and professional beekeeper Jenny B’s demonstration hive. Brotherhood offered a variety of summer wines and sangrias to visitors, while Jenny B explained the process by which honeybees create hives and honey, how people grow and harvest honey and bee pollen for their own use, and how beekeepers manage their hives year-round (including working with farmers for pollination). Jenny offers all types of local honeys and bee products, and gives free demo lessons for the community, to scout groups, at the Moffat Library, and to students in the Washingtonville schools. She can be contacted online at her website and social media pages or by calling 631-356-5418. (Photos by Eugenia Moskowitz)
