Playground Transformation in the City of Newburgh

Playground Transformation in the City of Newburgh

By Michele Starkey

A children’s playground located on Courtney Avenue in the City of Newburgh was littered with trash and graffiti. Teams of volunteers pulled together this month and returned it to an attractive and inviting playground.. Alvin Moonesar (Center for People Development) along with the efforts of ‘We Are Newburgh’ and other concerned citizens sprung into action last Saturday and cleaned. Graffiti was power washed, trash removed and playground equipment was sanitized. Members of the ‘We Are Newburgh’ Team provided fresh fruits and vegetables along with a barbecue for the community. ‘We Are Newburgh’ is a grassroots organization that was started by Joe Alvarez in 2013 and whose mission is to focus on the betterment of the Newburgh Community.
