Eagle Rank Awarded
New Windsor resident Ryan Wing, 17, of Troop 28 was recently awarded the Boy Scouts of America’s highest rank of Eagle Scout. After getting project approval from both the Town of New Windsor and the Hudson Valley Scout Council, Ryan began the process of soliciting donations and materials for bat boxes to be installed at Plum Point Park in New Windsor. Adams Fair Acre Farms and Heights Lumber, along with numerous friends and family, were very generous in helping meet his goal. In addition, Ryan worked closely with the adult leaders in his troop as well as other scouts who donated their time to construct the wooden boxes, paint, and varnish them. Many, many hours of work went into documenting, organizing, and supervising this project which allowed Ryan to demonstrate his leadership abilities. Ryan, a June graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, played Varsity Baseball, was a member of the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. He will be pursuing a degree in Structural and Civil Engineering at the University of Buffalo.
