City of Newburgh Manager, Michael Ciaravino, distributed his formal resignation letter, stating he will leave in January.
September 9, 2018
To Mayor Harvey, City Council, Department Heads and Staff:
After much consideration, I am respectfully announcing my intent to seek alternative career opportunities. The past four and half years have been very rewarding. I have had the great honor and pleasure of working with a first rate team. Together we overcame many obstacles and accomplished many goals with respect to clean water, dilapidated infrastructure, stabilization of the police department and improved safety within our community. Our efforts brought new life and revitalization to our community.
The heart and soul of Newburgh is palpable. There is no doubt given Newburgh’s location where the sweet water and salt water meet, as well as its historic roots, that this part of the world is truly unique.
I intend to continue on beyond the end of the budget season through December 2018. However, I felt it would be the most honorable approach to formally announce my plans to seek other opportunities in an effort to prepare our team for my ultimate departure.
