Marlboro Rolls Liberty 44-0

Senior Monti Walker’s two first quarter touchdown was all the Dukes of Marlboro needed against the Liberty Indians. Junior Christian Diorio led the first quarter drive completing three of three passes before Monti Walker raced 28 yards for his first varsity career touchdown to put Marlboro up 6-0. Later in the firstWalker picked up a fumble caused by Gio Friserda and scampered 12 yards for his second career touchdown for a 12-0 lead. In the second quarter senior Sam Mongelli threw touchdowns to junior Troy McCewen and senior Noah Hadley and the Dukes went into half time with an impressive 28 point lead.
Mongelli ripped through the Liberty defenders in the third quarter with touchdown runs of 15 and 71 and a 44-0 lead. Mongelli ended the day with 118 yards on the ground and 80 through the air.
“It’s not about who’s playing where. We get it done. A team effort. I think 14 different players touched the ball offensively. Both of us can sling it all over the field to many different threats, we can run over defenders or like Sam showed today, out run you, added Diorio”.
Marlboro defense was again stellar holding Liberty to under 100 total yards of offense and zero points. The Marlboro defense has not allowed a rushing touchdown this season. Liberty star running back Kymanni Dennis was pounded all day by the Dukesdefense and finished with 60 yards on 20 carries and Liberty did not complete a pass. Senior Myles Barrington led the defense with 12 tackles, while senior Teige Napoli added 10 and a sack. Senior Jack Young had an interception bringing his total to three in three games and Walker and junior Austin Laird recovered fumbles.
