The Week In Review-The Weekend Ahead

Autumn in Washingtonville

With the temperatures falling and the leaves changing, the Washingtonville Beautification Committee, with help from various teens and parents, decorated the center of the village on Sept. 22 with bunches of cornstalks, plaid ribbons, and scarecrows. The creatures were made over the past few weeks by various individuals and civic groups in Washingtonville including girl scouts and elementary school children at Taft, Little Britain, and Round Hill, with various themes in mind. Even businesses along Main Street created their own crows to reflect their shops. Nailed It Hardware offered frames and decorations for people to come in and make scarecrows, and children enjoyed walking through town over the weekend to find their scarecrow and take their picture next to it. Village board trustee Valerie Laudato said, “To me, that was the best part of this, watching the kids’ excitement when they found their scarecrows.”

Be sure and “fall” into the upcoming community events in Washingtonville listed below.
