Honor Flight Mission #21 Takes Off
Around seven in the morning a crowd of people was in front of the New York’s International Stewart Airport waiting for the roar of motorcycles coming over the hill. It was October 6 and Honor Flight Mission 21 was taking off. As the motorcycles closed in toward the front of the terminal, sirens blared and horns started blowing. The Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipes and Drums Corps started playing in front of two buses carrying the Veterans. As the band passed by the buses stopped and unloaded the Veterans who were about to make the trip to Washington,D.C. for the day. Lined up on the side of the terminal were all the motorcycles groups who had escorted them to the airport. Everyone thanked them for their service. A brief ceremony was held and then they boarded the plane. (Photos by Bob McCormick)
