Arrest Made in Washingtonville School Threat
On October 16, 2018, at approximately 5:30pm, the Orange County 911 Center received a 911 telephone call reporting that there was a kid with a gun in the Washingtonville High School. Washingtonville and Blooming Grove Police immediately responded, and the school was placed into a lockdown. Police searched the school and found no immediate threat or witnesses to the incident and quickly determined the phone call appeared to be fictitious. Once that was determined, the lockdown was rescinded and all after-school activities went back to normal. Police along with school administrators worked closely together and obtained surveillance video of a suspect whom was believed to have made the 911 call while inside the school. Police then identified the suspect and located him at his residence. Based on a criminal investigation into the incident, police arrested Kevin Allen, 46 years old from Salisbury Mills, NY at approximately 9:45pm. He was charged with one count of falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor. Mr. Allen was arraigned in Washingtonville Court where he was issued a court order to stay off the school grounds and given a return Village Court date of November 14th. No one was injured during the incident and no other people were determined to be involved.
