NEWBURGH, N.Y. – October 2018 – Halloween’s on the horizon, but the spookiest thing for college students this month is midterms.

However, it was all treats and no tricks for Mount Saint Mary College students when four therapy dogs provided a stress-busting break on Thursday, October 11.
Dressed in their Halloween best and ready to be held and petted, the precious pups were sweeter than candy for the Mount community.

“The dogs are very comforting for the students during this stressful time of year,” explained Orin Strauchler, assistant dean of Student Support Services and Director of Counseling. “This event makes the students feel a little less tense and tired.” Research has indicated that watching, petting, or talking to an animal can lower blood pressure and heart rate.
