Bring Out the Hounds!

Washingtonville’s inaugural dog fest, Woofingtonville, got area dogs barking for joy on Nov. 4 as a huge wag of furry critters and well over a hundred of their human friends got their howl on.
Organized by Washingtonville resident Sandra Heintz, the dog parade started at Memorial Park, traveled along Ahern Blvd., and ended at Vern Allen Park, where vendor booths of pooch-related interest served food, doggie treats, and pet-related information. Humane societies and rescue organizations were also present.
Like their humans, some dogs were dressed in hilarious Halloween garb, some in exquisite canine finery, while others seemed to have just made it out the door with their leash. But, from the purebreds to the mutts, and with much sniffing and horseplay, all of man’s-best-friend enjoyed the social event of the season.
