City of Newburgh Police Pursuit
At approximately 9:30 am, City of Newburgh police officer Ricardo Rivera and his K-9 partner Bane, attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Carson & S. Lander Street, after which the driver led police on a chase north of the City of Newburgh and Rt. 92 all the way to Marlboro. When it crashed into a police vehicle the driver fled into an orchard at Truncali Farms.
He was identified as Darren Marcisak, age 43, from New Paltz. Marcisak was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment and is being charged with several counts of Reckless Endangerment, Assault, Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving, Failure to Comply, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Felony DWI, Drugs, Resisting Arrest in addition to a long list of traffic tickets. He will be held pending arraignment in the City of Newburgh court on January 10.
Several police officers were also sent to St. Luke’s hospital and were treated for minor injuries. The City police was assisted by Town of Newburgh Police, Town of Marlboro Police, New York State Police and members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
