“Hot Chocolate Run” 5K Steams Ahead
The third annual Valentine’s Day “Hot Chocolate Run” 5K was held on Feb. 3 through the center of the village of Washingtonville. Organized by local Run for Fun members, the annual un-timed event welcomed all runners, joggers, woggers, and anyone in between, dressed in any kind of getup, to come out and enjoy looking forward to spring.
Race Director Brian Felter said to all participants, “We have been working with AKTIV against cancer for three years now and it is such a great organization that is promoting physical activity as part of cancer treatment, pledging $3.3 million to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to fund pioneering exercise oncology research which is going on right now. AKTIV is helping people with cancer stay motivated and helping find ways to cure it. The key here is they are helping those with cancer now. With that said, fees and 50/50 raffles helped raise $1,300 dollars that is going directly to AKTIV. I want to thank you all again for donating, running, walking and making this a fantastic event for Washingtonville.
