Is It Spring Yet?
The Pagliaro family of Rock Tavern enjoyed some quality skating last weekend after dad cleared an ice rink at the Otterkill Creek on Twin Arch Road. Recent freezing temperatures created eight inches of ice with a smooth skating surface, requiring only some simple homespun Zamboni-ing with a snow shovel to clear the fluffy snowfall off the top. Other neighbors enlarged the rectangle further, and families from Twin Arch and Beattie Roads came with sticks and pucks to enjoy the fun. Area ice fishermen measured their drilled holes and said some parts of the creek were closer to 12 inches thick. Warmer weather this past week rendered the ice soft and unstable. But given the recent sub-zero weather, and area plumbers being busy repairing frozen pipes, the Orange County Post reckons most people are okay with that. (Photo by Eugenia Moskowitz)
