Town of Newburgh’s Officer Lake Receives Commendation

In the photo shown above, Officer Hannah Lake receives commendation from Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio (on the right) and Town of Newburgh Police Chief Bruce Campbell (on the left). Officer Lake was presented the commendation on February 11, 2019 at a Town Hall meeting in front of a room filled with police officers and family members. On January 25 at approximately 10:30 pm, Officer Lake observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle broadcast by the City of Newburgh Police Department, which was Involved ina shooting in their jurisdiction. Officer Lake made it known she was following the vehicle which contained multiple occupants. The vehicle suddenly took off in an attempt to evade her. Officer Lake pursued the vehicle north on Route 9W from the area of Carter Ave, through Marlboro, Highland and across the Mid-Hudson Bridge, finally ending in the City of Poughkeepsie where the suspect vehicle struck a tree. Officer Lake was then able to assist in apprehending all of the occupants. All through the pursuit, Office Lake maintained her composure and was able to clearly update other units as to her position. She was the sole unit for a good portion of the pursuit. Officer Lake showed not only dedication to her duty, but also the ability to perform during a highly stressful event. Because of her actions, the murder suspects were arrested. We want to recognize the effort of Officer Lake with a commendation from the Town Board.
