Fire Decimates Garage and Spreads to House on Mountain View Ave.

Town of Newburgh – The Cronomer Valley Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire that quickly  spread to the house structure on Mountain View Ave. on Tuesday, February 26.  When CVFD arrived the house was already engulfed in flames.  There was one resident present and he was uninjured.  Because of the challenge of getting sufficient water to the scene, a shuttle of tanker trucks was begun.

A Second Alarm was sounded and brought Plattekill to the scene.  Then came Good Will, Air Guard, Newburgh’s FAST TEAM, Winona Lake, Middle Hope, Orange Lake, Coldenham, and Vails Gate’s FAST TEAM.  The situation was upgraded to a third alarm that brought Wallkill, and Modena Standby. Town of Newburgh Police and Fire Inspectors were also at the scene along with two Mobile Life Advanced Life Support units.  Despite the tireless efforts of 10 fire teams, standby units, and police, the wind, frigid temperatures and fast-moving flames left little salvageable of both the garage and house.
