New Windsor Police Department Honored in Albany

Assemblyman Colin Schmitt hosted New Windsor Police Department officers in Albany to present them with an official NYS Assembly Proclamation to honor their commitment to protecting the public and well regarded service to the community for over 250 years.

The New Windsor Police Department began back in 1763 eventually developing into a full-time public service agency providing twenty-four hour law enforcement coverage and emergency dispatch services to the town. The department is staffed by 49 full-time officers, and 21 full and part-time civilian staff members, including dispatchers.

The New Windsor Police Department members who traveled up to Albany for the recognition are Chief Robert Doss & Son Robert Doss, Deputy Chief Michael Farbent, Lieutenant Daniel Valeri, Lieutenant Frederick Fayo, Detective Sergeant Christopher Sager, Officer Hannah Schmitt, the Chief’s Admin. Assistant Michelle Burbank, and Daughters Daniella and Jacqueline.

Assemblyman Colin Schmitt stated, “I am proud to host the New Windsor Police Department in Albany to honor their public service. Residents of the Town of New Windsor are well served by the department and the officers are held in very high regard for their service and protection of the town. New Windsor PD has numerous high level accreditations and has been recognized by law enforcement partners at all levels for their high level of professionalism and ability. I am glad that the department was able to join me in Albany to be officially recognized on the floor of the Assembly for all the good work that they do.”

Chief Robert Doss stated, “On behalf of the entire New Windsor Police Department I would like to thank Assemblyman Colin Schmitt for officially recognizing our department on the floor of the State Assembly and presenting us with an Assembly proclamation. We are proud to serve the New Windsor community and work on behalf of all residents and visitors and I am grateful that we have an advocate like Assemblyman Colin Schmitt working on our behalf in Albany.”
