After School Outdoor Adventures This Spring

Cornwall, NY-  The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is happy to once again offer its unique After School Adventures at the Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center, on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall.  These popular weekly adventures are led by Environmental Educator Carl Heitmuller who invites you to “get your child away from all of their electronics for a while so they can learn and have fun in the great outdoors.” Bug Bonanza for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, runs Mondays, April 29 to May 20 from 3:45pm-5pm.  The bugs are back! Explore the tiny world of bugs. Children will use sweep nets in the field, dip nets in the pond, kick nets in the stream, shake the trees, and roll the logs of the forest in search of these enormously important little animals that call these places home! Space is limited to 10.  Children in grades 3-5 will learn all about Survival Situations.  This fun class will be a safe way to learn how to survive in the woods! Learn the Rules of 3, how to make a debris shelter, fire starting techniques, ways of collecting water and how to read maps, and make a mini-survival kit to take home! This sessions runs Tuesdays, April 30 through May 21 from 3:45pm-5pm.  Space is limited to 8.  Admission: Pre-paid registration is required. Visit hhnm.org or call 845-534-5506 ext. 204 f
