Anthony DeFranco Treats Washingtonville Middle Schools to Signing Lessons
Blooming Grove – Anythony DeFranco was busy this week doing offering American Sign Language (ASL) presentations at local elementary schools with his friend Dawn Salka for the Blooming Brove ASL Club. DeFranco said ” So, I did a same presentation about myself growing up Deaf, attending my Deaf school in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, and my experiences at Gallaudet University – our world’s only Deaf university in Washington, DC. The presentation was at both Taft and Round Hill Elementary schools. It was all about educating their children to understand about my deafness, my special language, and Deaf Culture as my special culture that shaped myself who I am as a Deaf person since birth.”
” This was my 3rd straight year conducting this presentation towards hearing children of Washingtonville who learn and perform in #ASL to spread #awareness, #love, #support, and understanding more about a Deaf person’s experiences being Deaf in this challenging hearing world – they loved this presentation and asked me lot of questions!”, DeFranco said.
