Two Outstanding Newburgh Individuals Were Given Keys to the City
At the City of Newburgh Council Meeting held on May 28 two very special people from the Newburgh Community were recognized for their outstanding work. They were each given a Keys to the City by Mayor Torrence Harvey; Maritza Wilson for her work in the recreation department, and Joe Alvarez for his outstanding growth as a citizen and his work with community development, particularly the ‘We R Newburgh’ community group. Joe and Maritza work to make sure youngsters in the city have activities like the Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Christmas Party, Kickball, Skate Plaza and dozens of other activities for young and old alike. The door at the Activity Center is always open not only for the young children, but for seniors to have a place for their meetings and activities. The City Council gave big congratulations to both these very deserving individuals.
