Washingtonville Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Players Prevail

The New York Golden Eagles (NYGE) 15U Basketball Team participated in an AAU Tournament at New Paltz College this past weekend, June 1 and 2. The team played shorthanded, with only 6 players for their first game and then with 5 players for the remaining 4 games. Although having lost both games on Saturday, they  returned to action with only 5 players on Sunday determined to make some noise; and noise they did make.

Sunday, The NYGE Team, playing through the losers bracket, won 3 consecutive games, the second game in overtime. The Washingtonville team was able to defeat 3 very good teams from Long Island, Albany and NYC area. The team from Long Island had previously defeated the NYGE Team on Saturday by 16 points. Each of the NYGE opponents’ teams had at least 10 players and the ability to substitute at will.

These 5 players played with all they had, earning the respect and adulation’s of the crowd, other coaches and their opponents. These 5 players never complained, stopped hustling or quit. Their coach, parents and The NYGE Program could not be more proud of them.
