The Week In Review-The Weekend Ahead

City of Newburgh Switching to Catskill Aqueduct Today

The City of Newburgh Water Department has informed us that will be transitioning its source of drinking water from Brown’s Pond to the Catskill Aqueduct. This transition will take place this morning Wednesday, June 19, 2019. It will take approximately 2 to 3 days for the existing water in the City’s water mains to be consumed and replaced with Catskill Aqueduct water. The City will remain on Catskill Aqueduct source water until the next planned shutdown of the Catskill Aqueduct in October of 2019, at which time the City will transition back to using Brown’s Pond for a period of approximately 10 weeks. Work is ongoing with the Engineering and Water Department teams to prepare for that upcoming shutdown.
