Assemblyman Schmitt Launches Legislative
Washingtonville, NY — (07/26/19) Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R,I,C -New Windsor) launched a variety of legislative advisory councils and held official meetings for his advisory councils this past week in his district office in Washingtonville.
Assemblyman Schmitt launched legislative advisory councils on a myriad of topics including law enforcement, animal advocacy, healthcare, education, sportsmen & 2nd amendment, first responders, small business, libraries, youth anti-vaping and pharmacies.
Each council is comprised of individuals who either live or work in the 99th district who are experts in their respective fields. The meetings that took place served as a forum for these individuals to express their legislative and community concerns. Assemblyman Schmitt has already started drafting legislation and taking necessary action to find solutions to the issues raised by his advisory councils this week.

Assemblyman Colin Schmitt stated, “I am proud to announce that my advisory councils have officially launched and we have successfully held the first meetings in my office. As the local Assemblyman, engaging constituents who are experts in their respective fields to provide input or present new ideas is critically important to me. My office has already started drafting up legislation and taking other action to help address concerns raised by members of my advisory councils.”
Schmitt continued, “My goal is to ensure that everyone has a voice in government and that is what my legislative advisory councils intend to do. Additional advisory councils for Veterans and Mental Health and other areas are in formation and accepting members.

Colin is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and Assemblyman for the 99th NYS Assembly District which includes to the Town of Stony Point in Rockland and The Towns of Wawayanda, Goshen, Hamptonburgh, Chester, Blooming Grove, New Windsor, Cornwall, Highlands and Woodbury.
