Germanfest in Washingtonville
By Eugenia Moskowitz
After a traditional Latin Mass with support from the Latin Mass Society of the Hudson Valley, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Washingtonville celebrated on Sept. 6 with a German-themed party in honor of its patron saint. After the packed mass with a fine chorus whose voices reverberated inside the excellent acoustics of the church’s interior, more than 500 people ate German food and enjoyed traditional German dancing (moved inside the hall when a chilly rain started to fall). The German theme was a variation on the pig-roast the church has usually done in the past. Zag prost!
