NFA Girls Varsity Soccer Team Wins Community Service Challenge

Newburgh Free Academy’s Girls Varsity Soccer Team was named the winner of the Fall 2019 OCIAA Student Athlete Community Service Challenge.  The team participated in several initiatives to earn this honor.  The team wore yellow shoelaces on September 12 to bring awareness to pediatric cancer and they raised over $100. Later in the season the team combined with Valley Central on a day to honor one of their students who was diagnosed with cancer.  Haley Dando, a senior on the team, raised over $700 for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.  Seniors on the team also volunteered as coaches with the Town of Newburgh Recreation Dept.  They coached  4 and 5 year olds on Saturday mornings.   The team is coached by David Doulin and Assistant Coach Jen Grogan.
