DANIEL MAUGHAN APPOINTED SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF MONTEFIORE ST. LUKE’S CORNWALL

Newburgh, NYMontefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) announced today that effective January 1, Daniel J. Maughan, RN, MSN, MBA, FNP-c, will be appointed to the role of Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. In addition to his current role as Senior Vice President of Transformation, Mr. Maughan will now oversee all areas of hospital operations.

PLEASE NOTE;  THIS WEEK’S ISSUE OF THE ORANGE COUNTY POST INCORRECTLY REFERRED TO DANIEL MAUGHAN AS THE NEW CEO, INSTEAD OF THE NEW COO (Chief Operating Officer).  We regret the error).

Mr. Maughan has been instrumental in MSLC’s evolution throughout the last several years, as the hospital worked to integrate population health models of care into the health system. He was a driving force in the securement of the $8 Million Statewide Healthcare Facility Transformation Grant, which is currently funding MSLC’s Emergency Department Expansion Project. Additionally, Mr. Maughan has overseen the progression of ambulatory services on the hospital’s Cornwall campus, which now includes Rehabilitative Services, Radiation Oncology, Pain Management, Wound Care, and Sleep Medicine. Just this year, Mr. Maughan oversaw the launch of MSLC’s new Center for Cognitive and Memory Services, along with the Driver Evaluation and Advisement Program.

Mr. Maughan also played a key role in MSLC earning verification as a Level III Trauma Center and was the leading force in implementing a Medication Assisted Treatment program, which is aimed to combat the local effects of the opioid epidemic. This program provides controlled medications that work to reduce or eliminate cravings and withdrawal symptoms, without the deleterious effect of the substance. Under his leadership, MSLC was the first hospital in the Hudson Valley Region to initiate this type of program.

“Dan’s expertise in both the clinical and administrative side of healthcare is an asset to our organization,” said Joan Cusack-McGuirk, President and CEO. “This promotion is a tribute to his commitment to MSLC, the community we serve, and the overall evolution of healthcare delivery.”

Mr. Maughan has more than 25 years of clinical and leadership experience.  Beginning his career as a nursing assistant, Mr. Maughan went on to attain his Associates Degree in Nursing from Capitol Community Technical College in Hartford, CT, both a bachelor and graduate degree in Nursing, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, from Mount Saint Mary College. He is also nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
