Annual “Night to Shine” Celebrated Locally
By Eugenia Moskowitz
The Tim Tebow Foundation’s local “Night to Shine” was hosted by Grace Community Church on Feb. 7 at Anthony’s Pier 9. This annual prom night experience for people with special needs ages 14 and up was created by Tebow to celebrate God’s love for those with special needs. On one night, 721 churches around the world hosted a total of about 115,000 guests with the support of 215,000 volunteers and “buddies.”
This was the third year that Grace Community Church has hosted the event, and the sixth year since it was first created by Tebow. Washingtonville native Celina Rofer, a buddy at the event, said it was “truly magical.”

Fundraising Effort By Lions
Rofer has spearheaded the Lions Den Inclusive Playground expansion at Memorial Park in Washingtonville, which is currently waiting for grant funding to proceed. Massive recycling efforts privately and at Washingtonville schools are also ongoing. Blue collection barrels can be borrowed for parties or other spring and summer events, and deposit recyclables will be picked up by Lions volunteers.
