Fire Quickly Extinguished On Moffat Road

Washingtonville – At 6:14 pm on Sunday Feb. 16, the Washingtonville Fire Department received a report for a house fire on Moffat Road, off of Route 208.  Fire Department units arrived at the scene within 3 minutes from the receipt of the alarm and found fire on the first floor of the house.  Firefighters forced entry into the house, which was unoccupied at the time, conducted searches and contained the fire to the room of origin.

The Salisbury Mills Fire Department stood-by in Washingtonville F.D.’s firehouse.  The Town of Blooming Grove Police Department and Building Inspector were at the scene.  Due to the sub-freezing temperature, upon completion of fire department operations the Town of Blooming Grove Highway Department sanded the road.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire was accidental.
