Naturalization Ceremony Welcomes New American Citizens
Sheriff Carl E. DuBois was joined by Judge Robert A. Onofry in welcoming our country’s newest citizens at Wednesday’s Naturalization Ceremony held at the Orange County Emergency Services Center.
County Executive Steve Neuhaus, also present, said “I always enjoy being a part of the County’s naturalization ceremonies and I’m honored to have an opportunity to speak at this event,” Neuhaus said. “Recognizing the accomplishment of these new citizens and welcoming them to this great country is always an inspirational experience. It was my privilege and pleasure to share a few words of welcome with them today.”
Approximately 100 people took the Oath of Allegiance, the final part of the naturalization process, renouncing all foreign allegiance while pledging to support and defend the American Constitution and to follow the laws of the United States.
It happened to also be Court Justice Robert Onofry’s birthday, and the new citizens were invited to sing happy birthday to him. Serenading the gracious Judge, he even shared his age with the crowd. and it was announced Judge Onofry had just turned 21.
