Washingtonville Police Department To Attend Special Needs Seminar
Since the inception of the Washingtonville Area Special Needs Advocacy Group, Washingtonville Mayor, Joseph Bucco and Washingtonville Police Department Chief Zaccaro have been working to ensure the inclusion of people with special needs within the community. From that, the Washingtonville Area Special Needs Advocacy worked with Diane Troeller, Educational Advocate, from Directions For Independent Living, Newburgh Center, to create a curriculum for first responders, to increase awareness and provide them with information that would be helpful as they perform their duties. On February 27th, the Washingtonville Police Department and other area first responders will be attending the training at the Knights of Columbus Council #5980, 18 Hallock Dr, Washingtonville, NY 10992 from 6:00- 8:00 PM. Also invited, are parents, teachers, therapists and caregivers, as they are often the first people to respond to an emergency. Refreshments will be served and are sponsored by Celina Rofer, Real Estate Associate Broker. Those interested in attending must RSVP to Nikki Munoz by email at NLMUNOZ1215@gmail.com.
The Washingtonville Special Needs Advocacy Group was created to help the community to better understand the needs of our loved ones with special needs through education and advocacy to promote inclusion.
