Beaver Dam Project Has Clear Objectives For Spring
Residents of Beaver Dam Lake have anxiously been awaiting updates on the project’s progress. Weather and temperature issues have halted some of the work, but with spring around the corner, hopes are high that the lost time can be made up quickly. At a recent committee meeting, the following schedule was issued along with some of the variables. Concrete cannot be poured if the temperature remains consistently below 40 degrees or the quality becomes compromised. A cold weather concrete cost estimate was received from contractor, for an estimated total of $214,000.00. This is significantly over the available budget. The project is in the middle of an 8-10 week(weather depending) winter shutdown, in lieu of performing concrete work during cold weather. Substantial completion will likely be delayed until July 2020. In the next couple of weeks, there will be another updated schedule from the contractor and can provide another update after that. In the meantime, Orange County DPW is continuing to coordinate administrative tasks with the contractor to prepare for the contractor’s remobilization back to the site in the near future.
