A dozen or so residents at Beaver Dam Lake became frightened over the weekend when they heard loud growls in the area of the lake that has been drained for dam reconstruction. Those who heard it debated with each other as to what it might have been. Too large for a fox or coyote (and definitely loud growling which is different from fox or coyote usual sounds). Several suggested it was more likely a mountain lion, bobcat, or bear. Mountain lion/Puma reports are rare and have been suspect by the
DEC, but 2 sightings supported by video during the past 2 years reinforce the possibility.
Predictably, one resident suggested “Its probably a Chupacabra”?
