BREAKING NEWS! Mid-Hudson To Reopen Tuesday

In his Saturday news conference, on NOW, Governor Cuomo just announced that the Mid-Hudson Region has reached all the criteria it needs to reopen, except for Contact Tracers. However, many have already been hired, more than half have been trained. The training is being done online and he expects the remaining necessary tracers to be completed by Monday. Therefore, MID-HUDSON WILL BE ABLE TO REOPEN TUESDAY.,

Cuom also showed some of the video submittals for public service announcements on how to stay safe, submitted by the public. They are incredibly well done. Public can go to the New York Coronavirus site to vote for the one they think is the best

Cuomo said that Roosevevelt had a boxing ring set up at the Governor’s Mansion. He would invite legislators to come box with him. Cuomo quipped “That’s probably how he got the budget done.” Cuomo said his father, Mario Cuomo had a slightly different approach and would say “Treat others like you treat your own family.”

Regarding progressing to Phase II – If metrics remain stable regions will be able to move on to Phase II in 2 weeks, and Phase III after another 2 weeks. He emphasized that these progressions all depend on what people do, ie maintaining social distance and wearing masks when in crowded areas where you are not sure you can maintain 6 ft. of distance, “It’s all about diligence and using good judgment.” Meanwhile, over the holiday weekend, people can meet in groups of 10 or less, following the social distancing rules.
